Turmoil

Settlers of South Park - #3

A Brief Description:

With Sam now well on the road to recovery, things get back to a semblance of normalcy in the South Park Basin. The Circle C continues to flourish to the point where another trip to the stockyards in Georgetown becomes necessary. It is during that journey that things get complicated for the drovers of the Circle C as the Clarksons are confronted by a pair of ruthless Mexican hombres who have sworn a vendetta against all gringos.

The ensuing story is one that history would just as soon forget. However, with the death toll, that summer of 1863, having reached an official 32 at the hands of the ruthless killers─with some of the prospectors and miners who lived it, putting it as high as 60─it was a very real part of the story that was the settling of the basin and surrounding mountains. Make no mistake about it, for those who managed to stay one step ahead of the treacherous Felipe Espinosa and his sworn vengeance, the summer of 1863 was one of keeping one hand on a fella’s gold pan and the other fisted around the butt end of his six-shooter.

A Few Reader Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars: Trouble in Paradise

By Amazon Customer - on Oct 3, 2014

I really enjoyed reading this little book. It was well written and easy to follow. I am happy that the mysteries left open in the book 2 are pretty much fleshed out in chapters one and two in book 3. I really enjoy this series and r. William Rogers' books.

I love, love, love this series!! I wish I had the time to sit down and read the whole book...and then go on to the next one. I'm a huge fan of r. William Rogers. Pretty sure I've read everything he has out there and loved them all.

5 out of 5 stars: Best of the series.

I think that this is the best book of the series so far - I enjoyed the first two books as well; but think that this one had much more suspense than the other two. I'm on to the next book of the series.

I really liked the adventuresome plot. This book is for those who are Christians. You learn so much about how Colorado was settled.
